Moving forward to begin our Spring Baseball Season.

Hello Camarillo Pony Baseball families,

Our board met this past week.  We are excited to be moving forward to begin our Spring Baseball Season.  For those on the waiting list, you will be getting an email to tell you to go back into your account and now pay for the 2021 Spring Season to be guaranteed a spot on a team.  For those that are just signing up, you will now need to pay during initial registration to be guaranteed a spot on a team.  There will be no more waiting lists unless we max out our teams.

We will be having assessments, Friday, February 19, Saturday, February 20, and Sunday, February 21.  Times TBD.  Once, we have the times, we will email out a link to sign up for an assessment slot.  Assessments are important so that we can ensure a competitive balance across our teams.  If you do not assess, the player will be randomly placed on a team.  No manager will be able to pick that player.  Only Pinto, Mustang, Bronco, Pony and Colt players will need to assess.  Quarterhorse and Shetland players will not assess.

Currently under state guidelines, baseball is one sport that will be allowed to play games once we reach the RED tier.  We all need to do our part to get us back into the RED tier so our kids can start playing baseball games.

In the meantime, let’s get our kids back out on the baseball fields for practices.  We will be instructing our managers how to follow COVID-19 guidelines during practices.  We will be sure to get that information out to our families as well.  We will finally be able to get our kids out of the house and start working on developing their baseball skills, work on conditioning, encourage team comradery and have fun all at the same time.

The big question is “what if we don’t end up playing any games”.  Well that’s a good question.  The board has decided that if we do not end up playing any games, we will give everyone the opportunity for a 50% refund.  We still have many costs associated with practices to include insurance, field maintenance, practice balls, equipment, etc.  What we will offer for the 50% the league would need to keep, is practices for about 3 months.  We plan to start practices by March 6 and go all the way through May 28.  We believe that is a small price to pay to get the kids out of the house and have 3 months of skill development, conditioning, team comradery and lot's of fun.  Again, that is only if we are not able to play games.

Remember, we are an all-volunteer board and doing our best to get our kids back on the field safely.  We appreciate all the support and look forward to seeing everyone out on the fields again.
